A Night of Dance
On December 27, 2008, ZamboSurians and Pagadianons witnessed splendid back-to-back-to-back performances of three Mindanao young performing arts groups: Teatro Guindegan of La Salle University (Ozamiz), Bidlisiw Integrated Arts Guild (Pagadian-Zamboanga del Sur) and Bag-ong Surigaonon Modern Dance Company (Surigao).
LSU Teatro Guindegan performed dance excerpts of their new musical play The Audition. This production was premiered at La Salle University (Ozamiz) and University of St La Salle (Bacolod) as part of Lakbay Tanghal--Ozamiz-Bacolod Theater Exchange Project last November 2008.
Bidlisiw Integrated Arts Guild performed an excerpt of Hugis, an avant-garde dance production which was premiered last June 2007 at Saint Columban College, Pagadian City.
Bag-ong Surigaonon Modern Dance Company performed Gamhanan Ang Paglupad sa Isip, which was festival entry to MINDULANI SA MILENYO DOS: The Mindanao Theater Festival last November 2008 in Cagayan de Oro City.
The performances were part of the 12-day Dance Fest dubbed PERFORMING BODIES: A ZamboSur Dance Season, and is one of the highlights of PASKO NATO '08: The 2nd ZamboSur Christmas Festival held at the Biyahe Na Stage, Agro-tourism and Heritage Complex, Provincial Government Center, Dao, Pagadian City.
Performing Bodies is a project of kaZAulogaN - ZamboSur Artist Network with a grant from the National Commission for Culture and Arts.
Other performances were done by local dance groups in the province: kaZAulogaN, ZSNHS Melengas Dance Ensemble, Men In Motion, SMC Dance and Singing Society, SCC Kalinaw Dance Troupe, MC Ethneous Attack, JH Cerilles State College Dance Troupe, JHCSC Teatro Sinunday, The 2nd Wild Z Dance Challenge, SaKaD'A Performing Arts Guild and The AHC Dancesports Showdown. |
