IPAG Tours Mindanao Lore Nationwide

After gathering close to 70,000 audiences in the previous season, the Integrated Performing Arts Guild (IPAG) enthrals more audiences nationwide as it mounts extensive touring performances in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

IPAG's 27th Season highlights "Tatlo Sa Isa" (Three People in One Island), sequel to the widely appreciated "Tales From Mindanao." Over eighty performances from North to South of the archipelago will host these IPAG dance-story productions from July 2004 to March 2005.

The tours also complement Mindanao's cultural action program -- designed by Mindulani, the active Mindanao theater network -- which aims to bring theater to as many Mindanao audiences as possible. IPAG, resident cultural company of the MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), has been in the forefront of enhancing theater awareness in these parts. In its past seasons through its large audiences, IPAG has helped developed a consciousness for peace through the stage.

Like "Tales," "Tatlo" is a collection of stories, dances and music from Mindanao, including vignettes from the Maranao epic darangen, and dance stories from Mindanao communities like the Tala-andig, Maguindanon, and TauSug, among others.

The tour opened in Davao City and performed in Iloilo, Olongapo International Convention Center, Don Bosco Makati, Caritas Don Bosco in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, St. Scholastica in West Grove, Tanauan and Lipa in Batangas, and the Philamlife Auditorium in Manila. The August schedule follows: La Salle Zobel (Aug. 12), SM Cebu (Aug. 24), Cebu City Coliseum (Aug. 25-26), Mandaue City (Aug. 27-28), and Tagbilaran City (Aug. 30).

More performances will be presented in Cagayan Valley, Ilocos, La Union, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, Batangas, Bicol, and in various other cities in Mindanao.

IPAG highlights Region 10 in the Best of the Philippines representing Lanao del Norte in August 14 in the Dept. of Tourism's "Wow Philippines" in Intramuros. IPAG presents a "Pagana Maranao," the Maranao culinary and performing arts feast starting at 10:30 a.m., and caps the day with a gala performance and Maranao-inspired fashion show at 8 in the evening.

Steven Patrick Fernandez directs and creates the original music from his script. Principal choreography is by Nolly Ceballos. The touring company includes Arlem Abanes (Stage Manager), Melvin Pascubillo, Leilani Monterola, Reynan Revillas, Eleanor Lila, Wenna Balaido, Lilybeth Maraon, Julius Hechanova, Geoffrey Peñola, Beverly Villarente, Lara Fatima Maglinao, Florivic Caoile, Genevieve Dargantes, Ken Velasquez, Jhanis Saceda (Asst. Stage Manager), Jean Graciela Peñola, Lorraine Antiquina, Leeroy Beley, and Stanley Perry Fernandez (Marketing Director).

Supporting the IPAG are SuperFerry, Pioneer Insurance and Surety Corp., the CCP, National Commission for Culture and the Arts, Mindulani, Inc., and the MSU-IIT.
