Mindanao dance drama workshop in Pagadian City
In celebration of the National Arts Month 2007, the kaZAulogaN - Zamboanga del Sur Artist Network hosted the Mindanao Dance Drama Workshop on February 19-21, 2007 at the ZSPCTA Building, Pagadian City.

Artistic Director Boots Dumlao of Kathara Dance Theatre Collective based in Davao City facilitated the 3-day workshop that was attended by 50 artists, mostly teachers and local choreographers in the province.
The workshop introduced the basic rudiments of theatre, dance and music, which are geared towards dance theatre productions. Participants were also taught in the basics of dance theatre productions, as well as dance theatre repertory building. At the end of the 3-day workshop, participants experienced mounting mini dance theatre pieces.
kaZAulogaN realized the important roles of the teachers in cultural preservation and arts promotion. Being in the forefront and directly involved in molding performanc e appreciation among the students, the teachers need to be given proper cultural and arts education. This is what kaZAulogaN commits to work for in the coming years—to offer training programs for educators and artists in Zamboanga del Sur.
The National Commission sponsored the workshop for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), in cooperation with Tambulig Arts Council, ZSNHS Malengas Cultural Dance Troupe and the Department of Education Division of Zamboanga del Sur.

About kaZAulogaN
kaZAulogaN is a newly established network of artists in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur and the City of Pagadian. It is composed of artists from the fields of dance, theatre, music, visual arts, literary arts, integrated arts and new media arts.
The main concept behind the creation of the network is the AHA (Artists Helping Artists) model.
The group started as a loose organization of young artists organized right after the Conference of Zamboanga del Sur Artists, which was held in February 19, 2006 in Pagadian City. The conference was hosted and organized by Kumbingan Ensemble in celebration of the 2006 National Arts Month.
In May 2006, select members of the network met again to formulate the objectives, form and structure of the network. This was the time when the group decided to adopt the name kaZAulogaN ( ZA and N are capitalized to represent Zamboanga del Sur Artist Network).
In January 2007, the core team met again to plan the formal launching of the network by hosting the Mindanao Dance Drama Workshop in February in celebration of the 2007 National Arts Month.
To date, the network has 10 arts group members and 30 individual members. |
