Luang Prabang by Geejay Arriola
Geejay Arriola started photography in 1988 as staff of the Development Education Media Services Foundation (DEMS), an audio-visual outfit where she was also writer and audio-visual coordinator. She abandoned the prospects of a career in photojournalism in 1989, when she realized her skills lay more in performing than in shooting. In 1992, she bought a second-hand Olympus OM5, a 50mm and a 35mm lens. Save for the 50mm lens, they're now in the hands of whoever bought it from the pawnshop.
Before she went to Luang Prabang in Laos, Geejay bought friend Bettine Robers' SLR Minolta with 50-75mm lens. Unsatisfied with the results of her Luang Prabang shoot, she abandoned all hopes of ever going back to her past life and returned the camera. These photos of Luang Prabang taken in February 2003 may well be her last take on the issue.
